A life abroad that actually works

The everyday questions that deserve a place beside tax and residency.

Think about an ordinary Tuesday

I have built businesses and lived abroad. One thing that becomes obvious is that the place has to work on an ordinary Tuesday. You still need to get things done, look after yourself and spend time with people you like.

Start with your routine. Where will you work? What does a healthy day look like? How much travel are you willing to do? Those answers give the search some shape.

Test the assumptions

Spend enough time somewhere to learn how your normal life would function. Look at the practicalities of housing, transport, connectivity and the activities you want around you.

Keep that personal assessment alongside the professional work on residence, business and tax. A promising country still needs to be a workable choice for you.

Build room to change your mind

A move involves decisions that are easier to reverse than others. Put them in order. Be clear about the commitments you are making and the questions that remain open.

For me, sovereignty begins with understanding your affairs and having real choices. That includes the freedom to recognise when a plan needs to change.
